Melamine is a stable compound with a symmetrical structure. In general the NH2 groups in melamine show an amide character. Melamine is a weak base and can react with various acids to yield melamine salts. Hydrolysis of melamine in strong acids or base solutions results in a stepwise replacement of the amide groups by hydroxyl groups forming ammeline, am elide and cyan uric acid.

It condenses with formaldehyde to product the formaldehyde resin (melamine resin), and owns the advantages of unharmful, heat-resisting, anti-aging, high luster, good insulation and widely used in the fields of plastic processing and wood working is also the chemical of coating, papermaking, textile, paints and leather processing industry.
