Sanding sponges are coated with a blend of aluminum oxide and ceramic aluminum oxide, an extremely tough synthetic abrasive. These minerals should last longer than conventional aluminum oxide. Accordingly, Sandblaster sponges can be used on bare wood, drywall or metal. They can be used wet or dry, and the sponges can be rinsed out.
