Tributyrin is a triglyceride containing three butyrate molecules esterified to glycerol, augments butyrate concentrations after hydrolyzation by lipases. Butyric acid is well-known as an alternative to Antibiotic Growth Promoter (AGP) to counteract problems derived from endotoxin exposure.
