It is designed to automatically deliver the liquid soap when the user presents their hands to the sensor spout and a measured dose of liquid soap (about 0. 8ml-1. 0ml) is automatically dispensed.

The unit is battery powered and incorporates an infrared convergence-type proximity sensor to sense the users. A long life motorized gear train operates the internal pump to deliver the liquid soap.
