This system is designed tom provide six (6) hours of light per night inside the clinics and twelve (12) hours of light per night for the security lights outside the clinics
 
 
Design Parameters are as follows:
  • Sierra Leone: Latitude is 7.60 degrees north and Longitude 11.50 degrees West
  • Average measured horizontal insolation is 5.00 kWh/m2/day, with a minimum of 3.67 kWh/m2/day in August
  • The optimum tilt for a standalone PV system is Latitude +/- 10 degrees facing South with a design month of 3.82 kWh/m2/day in August
  • The system design load is 65.7 Ah/day, @ 12 VCD, 400Wp. The system is designed to power the design load to a DOD of 80% with 5.10 days of backup power
  • This performance will be met in the with the least solar insolation ( July and August)
  • Even in the worst month, the system has 25% excess power; for the remaining months, 32-100% additional energy will be available.
  • The system should be environmentally friendly
  • The battery should have at least five days of energy storage assuming the design load remains constant.
  • Total estimated load is approximately 0.727 kWh/day
  • The system is sized to supply electric power for five (5) 20 watts fluorescent lights.
