What are Honeycomb Cores?
Honeycomb cores are used in the fabrication of lightweight structures. The core material is typically ''sandwiched'' between skins of plywood, aluminum, FRP composite material, steel, granite, solid surface materials, paper etc. To attach the ''skin'' material to the honeycomb core, a bonding adhesive can be used or the materials can be laminated with polyester or epoxy systems. The resultant honeycomb panel results in one of the highest strength to weight core constructions available.
Polycore Technology metallic honeycomb can be supplied in aluminum core material or with metallic panel/ FRP panel/marble panel with different cell diameter, thickness and strength. Polycore Technology metallic honeycomb is made of pre-penetrated aluminum roll with high stiffness alloy panel so Polycore aluminum honeycomb can expel air and volatile substance when heating laminated with panel that result in Polycore aluminum honeycomb composite panel holding higher peeling strength, durable life, more smooth surface, more stiff property than homogenous honeycomb.
Polycore Technology has two kinds of plastic honeycomb:
One is PP honeycomb which can be supplied with both sides laminated with non-woven polyester tissue in either 40 g/m2 or 60g/m? This allows better bonding of the honeycomb to different panels. In addition to the tissue, honeycomb can be supplied with a PP film. The film under the tissue acts as a barrier to prevent resin leaking into the core and thus save resin consumption. This allows the honeycomb to be put into applications without using additional panels in special project. (PP picture)
The other is CPP honeycomb which can be supplied with PP panels on both sides, so it can be directly used as package , ceiling ,floor and partition in automotive and other fields.
