ADSS cable is self-supporting overhead optical cable. the spacing can vary from 50 to 1000M. It is generally divided into at and PE sheath materials. AT sheath is an anti-corrosion sheath, which is applied in high voltage grade lines.
First, the characteristics of ADSS cable are as follows:
(1) for the design of power system, it is a self-supporting overhead optical cable with full insulating medium. Its structure does not contain any metal materials.
(2) Fully insulated structure and high voltage withstanding index are beneficial to erecting overhead power lines in live operation without affecting line operation.
(3) Using high tensile strength anti-fibre material can withstand strong tension, meet the requirements of large span of overhead power lines, and prevent bird pecking and man-made shooting;
(4) the thermal expansion coefficient of ADSS cable is small. When the temperature changes greatly, the radian of the cable line changes little, and its weight is light, and its ice and wind load are also small.
II. Service Life of ADSS Optical Cable
ADSS optical cable is installed on high voltage transmission line, its general life is more than 25 years, and there are many factors affecting its life.
the main factors are:
(1) the gradient of the high-voltage induced electric field near the tower varies greatly, and the high-voltage induced electric field corrodes the cable strongly. PE type for overhead power lines with KV and below, and AT type for lines with 110KV and above.
(2) for double-circuit poles and towers, consideration should be given to the selection of suspension points due to power failure in the primary circuit of the line or the transformation of the line.
(3) When the line passes through the working area with salt fog and acid gas, the chemical substances will corrode the outer skin of the optical cable, and the protective sheath of the cable is damaged, which is vulnerable to arc damage.
(4) Improper construction results in skin damage or abrasion, which is easy to corrode when running in long-term high-voltage electric field. Smooth and smooth outer sheath can effectively reduce electrical corrosion and prolong service life.
