[Pharmacologic Action]
Pharmacodynamics
Flunixin meglumine is a potent cyclooxygenase inhibitor with analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic effects. Analgesia is by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandin or its nociceptive sensitizing substance or their combined action, thus blocking the conduction of nociceptive impulse. the anti-inflammatory effect of peripheral tissue may be caused by inhibiting cycloxidase, reducing prostaglandin precursor formation, and inhibiting local inflammatory response caused by other mediators.
Pharmacokinetic
after a single intramuscular injection (2.2 mg/kg body weight), the plasma elimination half-life was 3-4 h, the peak concentration was 2.94μg/mL, the peak time was 0.4 h, and the drug could still be detected in the blood 18 h after administration. the apparent volume of distribution was 2.0L/kg, and the bioavailability of a single cervical injection was 87%.
[Drug interactions]
[Function and use] Antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory. for domestic animals and small animals with febrile, inflammatory diseases, muscle pain and soft tissue pain.
[Usage and Dosage] Intramuscular and intravenous injection: one dose, 0.4ml per 10kg body weight of beef cattle and pigs; Dogs and cats 0.2-0.4ml. 1 ~ 2 times a day, no more than 5 days.
[Adverse reactions] Intramuscular injection has local stimulation. Long-term use of large doses may lead to gastric ulcer and renal damage in animals.
[Matters Need Attention] Use with caution in animals with digestive ulcer.
[Withdrawal period] Cattle and pigs 28 days.

[Drug interactions]
(1) Flunixin meglumine should not be used with other NSaids at the same time, because it will aggravate the toxic and side effects on gastrointestinal tract, such as ulcers and bleeding.
(2) Due to the high binding rate of plasma protein, flunixin meglumine may replace other drugs combined with plasma protein or be replaced by other drugs when combined with other drugs, resulting in enhanced effects or even toxicity of the replaced drugs.
(3) with antibiotics, for the auxiliary treatment of sow agalactious syndrome.
